Ivory Coast are engaged in talks with Sven-Goran Eriksson as they look to fill their managerial vacancy ahead of the World Cup finals.

Eriksson attended Ivory Coast's 2-0 friendly defeat at the hands of South Korea at Loftus Road on Wednesday but, after the game, denied having any interest in the post as he said: "No, no, no, this job has nothing to do with me."

Just three days later, the Ivorian football federation confirmed Eriksson's interest in the post and revealed that talks have begun with the former England and Mexico manager.

It read: "Ivorian federation directors, who are looking for a coach to lead the Elephants of the Ivory Coast, have had discussions with coach Sven-Goran Eriksson who showed his desire to lead the Ivorian team in the 2010 World Cup."

Eriksson was sacked by Mexico during the World Cup qualifying campaign and has been linked with the North Korea and Nigeria jobs in recent months.

Guus Hiddink is also believed to be a contender to lead Ivory Coast, who sacked Vahid Halilhodzic following a disappointing African Nations Cup campaign and face Brazil, Portugal and North Korea in their World Cup group.
