Doyle tips Brazil to win World Cup

Republic of Ireland striker Kevin Doyle has told Soccernet that Brazil deserve to be amongst the favourites to win the World Cup following their impressive 2-0 victory at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.

• Palmer: Dunga still has plenty to ponder

In their final warm-up game before the finals in South Africa, Brazil turned on the style in the second half in North London, adding to an own goal from Keith Andrews when an intricate move was finished off by the impressive Robinho.

Brazil could even afford to exclude Ronaldinho from the squad that faced Giovanni Trapattoni's Ireland and it appears the AC Milan star will not be considered for the World Cup, despite some superb performances in Serie A this season.

Under head coach Dunga, Brazil have won the Copa America and the Confederations Cup and with such a wealth of talent at their disposal, Doyle has warned they will be a formidable force as they go in search of a sixth World Cup triumph.

"I think they are favourites for every World Cup that comes along and probably always will be," Doyle told Soccernet. "They keep producing top players and for every neutral they are the team to watch when the World Cup comes around.

"Every team has weaknesses. In the first half we could have scored, so there are weaknesses, every team has it, but they have enough plusses to get them out of any problems.

"They are just confident, every player. It is hard. Every team finds it hard; England, Ireland, it doesn't matter which team it is. When they turn it on, as you saw with their second goal, it is hard to deal with."

Liam Lawrence also feels Brazil will challenge strongly in South Africa, with the Ireland and Stoke midfielder claiming Dunga's side were more impressive than France, who reached the finals at Ireland's expense when Thierry Henry's handball helped settle a play-off in November.

"I said to Glenn [Whelan] on bench when I came off, I said they do look good and thought maybe they were quite a bit better than France to be honest," Lawrence said. "They have got a chance, a very good chance."
