JOHANNESBURG -- Management of South Africa's airports will reimburse hundreds of fans who missed a World Cup semifinal because of congestion at the Durban airport.
At least 600 fans in six aircraft missed Spain's semifinal against Germany after an increase in private jets at King Shaka Airport filled the landing slots.
Airports Company South Africa said Friday it has set aside $52,000 to be distributed to those affected. It said this was a "gesture of goodwill" and not admission of any liability.
FIFA said it would not meet any costs incurred.
