Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored twice as Sweden shrugged off the first-half dismissal of defender Olof Mellberg and maintained their 100% start in Group E with a 6-0 rout of San Marino.
Ibrahimovic opened the scoring in the seventh minute and the Swedes cruised home despite Mellberg receiving a straight red card in the 34th minute for a bad challenge on Simone Bacciocchi.Sweden headed into the game with confidence after an opening win over Hungary while San Marino were thrashed 5-0 by Holland and never looked like breaking their duck in Malmo.Sebastian Larsson's cross was put into his own net by San Marino defender Davide Simoncini in the 12th minute and a third came in the 26th minute as the in-form Pontus Wernbloom's header appeared to take a touch off San Marino keeper Aldo Simoncini. The Swedes refused to be knocked out of their stride by Mellberg's dismissal, and added a fourth in the 51st minute when Andreas Granqvist headed home from a Larsson free-kick.Aldo Simoncini was keeping the score respectable with a string of fine saves but the Swedes finished well with Ibrahimovic making it 5-0 then Marcus Berg adding a close-range header in injury time.
