HARRISON, N.J. (AP) -- Thierry Henry scored his first MLS goal in the second half, helping the New York Red Bulls beat the San Jose Earthquakes 2-0 on Saturday night.
Dane Richards, who had an assist on Henry's goal, scored late in the first half for the Red Bulls (11-7-4), who won for the third time in four matches and pulled four points behind first-place Columbus in the Eastern Conference.
Richards dribbled past three San Jose defenders and made goalkeeper Jon Busch whiff just outside the box before sending in his first goal of the season in the 45th minute.
Henry converted on a cross from Richards in the 64th minute after going scoreless in his first five MLS games.
The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for San Jose.
