Elliot Benyon grabbed a hat-trick as League Two Torquay earned themselves a home third-round FA Cup tie against Brighton with a 4-0 win at Stockport.

The Devon outfit were ruthless as they made the most of a third trip north for the twice-postponed tie played at Macclesfield's Moss Rose ground.

Torquay stormed into the lead after just two minutes. Stockport goalkeeper Owain fon Williams saw his mis-hit clearance strike defender Johnny Mullins then fall invitingly into the path of Benyon who couldn't miss from 10 yards.

The second goal in the 27th minute was even more of a calamity for fon Williams as this time his poor clearance hit Scott Rendell's knee before rebounding straight back into an unguarded net.

It was 3-0 five minutes later. Jake Thomson fired in a low cross from the left and Benyon met it superbly as he guided the ball home from close range.

Benyon slid home his third goal with 12 minutes left after latching onto Rendell's flick.
