Second-half goals from Falcao and Rolando secured Porto a deserved win against struggling Atletico Madrid in Champions League Group D.
Falcao opened the scoring with a neat back-heel 15 minutes from time and Rolando snaffled a rebound to clinch the points seven minutes later after a fine save from substitute goalkeeper David De Gea.
The result earned the Portuguese side a first win following their opening loss to Chelsea, but heaped further misery on Abel Resino's visitors. Atletico lie in La Liga's relegation zone and were booed off the pitch after being held to a goalless draw by minnows Apoel Nicosia a fortnight ago.
Porto started brightly, with Hulk influential in the early stages. Mariano Gonzalez mustered the first noteworthy shot for the game for the hosts, but did not trouble Roberto in the Atletico goal.
Hulk used his pace to good effect down the left but Bruno Alves was just unable to connect with his cross to the far post. Raul Meireles also tried his luck for Porto only to see his 12-yard effort blocked by Pablo Ibanez.
Porto goalkeeper Helton was called into action for the first time in the 12th minute to keep out a Diego Forlan blast. Helton fumbled a 20-yard attempt from Sergio Aguero seven minutes later but there was no Atletico player on hand to capitalise.
Roberto was forced off in the 25th minute, signalling he could not continue to the bench after scampering back to ensure he had a looping header from Falcao covered.
With experienced stoppers Gregory Coupet and Leo Franco having left the Primera Division outfit over the summer and Sergio Asenjo away with Spain at the Under-20 World Cup, 18-year-old De Gea was called upon.
Atletico continued to probe for the opener but struggled to create any clear-cut opportunities. Simao Sabrosa saw his shot blocked by Jorge Fucile and Jose Manuel Jurado blasted wide.
Aguero had half a chance from a corner just before the half-hour mark but could not direct his header on target.
The deadlock was almost broken by the Portuguese side three minutes before the break when Bruno Alves appeared to have been put through by Falcao, but Juanito stepped out just in time and the flag was raised.
Three minutes later, Meireles too burst through and this time struck the post, only to also be given offside.
Helton had to be alert shortly after the break, getting down well to his left to tip Tomas Ujfalusi's low drive around the post. From the resulting corner, an unmarked Juanito headed wastefully over the bar.
Teenager De Gea was holding his own in the Atletico goal, tipping a Bruno Alves curling free-kick over the bar just after the hour and then unconventionally fisting to safety a Gonzalez cross-shot following a good diagonal run.
However, the youngster was eventually beaten 15 minutes from time.
Meireles produced a fine left-footed pass out to the right for Hulk, whose first shot saved by De Gea. He miscued from the second but was given a third bite at the cherry and passed to Falcao, whose brilliant back-heel from six yards left De Gea helpless.
Falcao almost doubled his tally nine minutes from time when he found space from a Hulk cross, but De Gea did well to bundle it away. But from the resulting corner, Bruno Alves' header hit the post and Rolando pounced on the rebound.
