Caley Thistle ease through

Three first-half goals helped to ease Inverness into the third round of the Co-Operative Insurance Cup as they ended up 4-0 winners against Albion Rovers.

The visitors started brightly and even hit the crossbar through captain Paul Tyrell, but it was Inverness who went on to dominate the remainder of the first half.

Jonny Hayes set up Robert Eagle to lash home the opener after eight minutes and that was doubled after 16 minutes when Adam Rooney converted Richie Foran's cross.

Caley Thistle then all but put the game beyond their Division Three opponents four minutes before the interval, Grant Munro beating Rovers goalkeeper Derek Gaston to the ball which then fell kindly to Nauris Bulvitis who rolled it into an empty net.

The game petered out after half-time, but there was still time for the home side to add another goal to their tally, Munro diverting Daniel Straford's cross into the net in the 57th minute.
