Queen's Park picked up their first home win in nearly seven months by seeing off East Stirling 1-0 at Hampden.

Stirling were given a glorious opportunity to take the lead after 12 minutes when Jamie Stevenson was fouled in the box, but Queen's Park goalkeeper Peter Hamilton saved Andy Rodgers' spot-kick.

The visitors were left fuming when referee Kevin Clancy turned down appeals for a further two penalties, first seeing Stephen McGuire brought down and then Robert Walker escaping unpunished for a blatant handball.

Stirling endured more frustration as they hit the bar from a Stevenson free-kick, but it was the home side's turn to have penalty claims turned away when Frankie Carroll was bundled over.

Clancy continued to ignore further penalty claims in the second half, denying Queen's Park spot-kicks after Craig Tully and Paul Weaver both appeared to handle.

The hosts came away with all three points, though, finding the breakthrough after 74 minutes when Carroll volleyed home.
