Darlington claimed their first win of the season after coming from behind to beat Shrewsbury 2-1 and giving Steve Staunton his first win of charge.Shrewsbury took the lead with less than two minutes on the clock when Lewis Neal headed in Jake Robinson's right-wing cross from five yards out.
Robinson should have increased his sides' advantage when he raced clear in the 22nd minute after beating Darlington's offside trap but he fired wide with keeper Russell Hoult stranded.
Darlington equalised in the 26th minute when on-loan winger Jamie Devitt fired a 25-yard free-kick in off a post to lift the home crowd.
The Quakers took the lead in the 57th minute when Steve Phillips could only parry an effort from Ian Miller into the path of Simon Thomas and the on-loan striker side-footed in his first Darlington goal from close range.
Shrewsbury rarely threatened as confidence oozed through the revitalised bottom club. Efforts from Paul Arnison, Gary Smith and substitute Curtis Main in the last minute could have made Darlington's win more emphatic.
