Torquay striker Tim Sills' hit the Gulls' 83rd-minute leveller to end the Devon club's six-match losing streak with a 1-1 draw against Aldershot.

Sills latched on to Nicky Wroe's angled cross from the right to side-foot home at the far post - three minutes before being dismissed for a second bookable offence.

Aldershot took a 48th-minute lead from Marvin Morgan's penalty. Referee Keith Hill awarded the spot-kick after an Aldershot attacker's shot hit a home defender on the arm.

The Shots nearly went ahead in the eighth minute when Lewis Chalmers looped a header over United keeper Michael Poke and on to the bar.

Poke recovered quickly enough to boot Marvin Morgan's follow-up off the line.

It was the wake-up call that United needed and they attacked straight away with Shots keeper Mikhael Jaimez-Ruiz forced to rush off his line to clear from Torquay target man Sills.

From a 19th-minute corner Chris Robertson's header forced a magnificent full-length save from Jaimez-Ruiz.

Recalled left-back Kevin Nicholson's 30th-minute free kick 25 yards beat the wall but not Jaimez-Ruiz, who needed to go full stretch to tip around his post.

Elliot Benyon raced into the box in the 40th minute and unselfishly teed up strike partner Sills, whose side-foot from 12 yards was saved off the line, down by his post, by diving Jaimez-Ruiz.

In the 63rd minute central defender Mark Ellis sent a powerful header just wide from a Nicholson corner.

Then Shots right-back Ben Herd cleared a Robertson header off the line. Outstanding Jaimez-Ruiz made another brilliant stop to keep substitute Scott Rendell's header out of the top corner.
