Mario Gomez ended his 14-month goalscoring drought for Germany in emphatic style with four goals in a win over United Arab Emirates.

Heiko Westermann set the wheels in motion in the 29th minute before Gomez scored his first six minutes later.

Piotr Trochowski added a third in the 39th minute before Gomez added a fourth just before half-time.

The Bayern Munich-bound striker completed his hat-trick two minutes into the second half before an own goal from Fares Juma made it six. Ismail Salem grabbed a consolation for the hosts in the 53rd minute before Nawaf Mubarek restored a degree of pride with a second in the 73rd.

Gomez then provided the cherry on top in stoppage time with a stunning end to Germany's tour of Asia.

Gomez's last international goal came against Switzerland in a friendly international in March last year.

After a disappointing Euro 2008 on a personal level, the striker had fallen into a rut and it looked like he was going to dig himself even deeper when he missed two gilt-edged chances in the first 10 minutes.

United Arab Emirates started brightly with Germany full-back Philipp Lahm suffering as three decent crosses from the right wing caused problems inside the penalty area.

But Germany went ahead in the 29th minute with Westermann poking the ball home after Lahm and Trochowski exchanged passes to set him up.

The goal Gomez was waiting for arrived in the 35th minute, and it was gift-wrapped by Lukas Podolski, who unselfishly chose to pass to the man who will be taking his place at Bayern next season to give him an open goal.

Trochowski made it three minutes later, adding the finish to a good team move down the right with Andreas Hinkel providing the assist.

Hinkel provided the next assist for Gomez, who showed his confidence had come flooding back with a clinical finish from close range.

Gomez's Stuttgart team mate Cacau set him up for his third two minutes into the second half before a shot from Bastian Schweinsteiger was diverted into his own goal by Fares Juma as Germany ran riot.

In the searing heat, Germany could be forgiven for taking their foot off the accelerator having secured a six-goal lead and this allowed the UAE to get back in the game.

Salem beat Germany debutant goalkeeper Manuel Neuer with a low shot from outside the area before another distance effort, this time from Mubarek, beat the Schalke custodian inside his other post with the ball shaving the woodwork on its way in.

But Gomez provided a stylish finish to the game with a goal from an almost impossible angle in stoppage time to leap from six international goals to 10 in one evening.
