Yoann Gourcuff crashed home a last-gasp winner as Bordeaux downed Rennes tonight to stay on the coat-tails of leaders Marseille in the Ligue 1 title race.

Romain Danze put the hosts in front after 18 seconds with the quickest goal of the season in the French top flight and Les Girondins' hopes appeared to be dashed when their defender Marc Planus was given a straight red card in the 26th minute.

However, Yoan Gouffran and Gourcuff scored in quick succession midway through the second half and although Moussa Sow looked to have sealed a draw for Rennes in the 89th minute, Gourcuff smashed in the winner with the last kick of the game.

Bordeaux move back to within two points of OM with five matches left, leaving Lyon trailing four points behind in third. Rennes remain languishing in seventh.

Les Girondins had not conceded in their last five games, including last weekend's 4-0 win over Vannes OC in the Coupe de la Ligue final, but that stubborn streak ended in a flash tonight.

Moments after the kick-off, Olivier Thomert headed down Carlos Bocanegra's cross and Sow centred low for Danze to turn in from close range.

It took a while for the visitors to recover from shipping that opening goal and their defence was at sixes and sevens early on.

Sow miscontrolled when clean through in the 10th minute before team-mate Rod Fanni fired straight at Ulrich Rame.

Bordeaux finally got going and they created some half-chances - through Gregory Sertic, Marouane Chamakh and Gourcuff - prior to Planus' 26th-minute sending-off.

The red card for the centre-back was very harsh, a yellow the most he deserved for his admittedly late tackle on Sow.

Laurent Blanc's men battled gamely with 10 men and although they gambled by leaving gaps at the back, they managed to equalise just after the hour mark, Gouffran volleying home superbly into the bottom corner.

Gourcuff then curled in a free-kick from just outside the area to put Bordeaux ahead but Sow looked like he had rescued a draw for Rennes when he bundled in from close range a minute from time.

Gourcuff had the last laugh, though, the France playmaker crashing in a low 20-yard drive with the last kick of the game to keep the title race alive.
