Ferrie Bodde struck a dramatic injury-time equaliser to secure Swansea a 1-1 draw and deny Burnley a third straight Coca-Cola Championship win.

Substitute Joey Gudjonsson claimed a 59th-minute opener to put the in-form Clarets ahead on their first-ever trip to the Liberty Stadium.

The Iceland international had entered the fray at half-time and headed in a cross from Wade Elliott to put Owen Coyle's men in control.

However, fellow midfielder Bodde was on hand to net with a header of his own in the 93rd minute to bring Burnley back down to earth.

The Lancashire outfit arrived in South Wales on the back of two successive wins which lifted the gloom following their dismal start to the season.

They won 2-1 at Nottingham Forest last weekend and then recorded a convincing 2-0 success over Lancashire rivals Blackpool at Turf Moor in midweek.

The Clarets were unchanged from the side which put Blackpool to the sword but they came under pressure during the opening exchanges as Swansea looked to take control.

Midfielder Darren Pratley rifled in a 20-yard strike inside the third minute which flew just wide of Brian Jensen's left-hand post.

However, Burnley soon gained a foothold on proceedings and Graham Alexander fired narrowly wide from 25 yards out as he went in search of his fourth goal in three games.

Alexander has been deployed in a holding role in midfield in recent games and has enjoyed a new lease of life.

He again looked to direct proceedings from just in front of Burnley's back four but Swansea remained a threat in attack.

In the 22nd minute Shaun MacDonald delivered a free-kick from the right flank and Andrea Orlandi arrived to plant a firm header straight into Jensen's midriff.

A niggling undercurrent began to develop as Orlandi and Burnley trio Kevin McDonald, Stephen Jordan and Clarke Carlisle were all booked within the space of 10 minutes.

In the 35th minute Burnley midfielder Chris McCann collected possession and hit a 20-yard shot which drew a comfortable save from Swansea goalkeeper Dorus De Vries.

But neither side could break the deadlock before the half-time whistle had blown.

Coyle made a change at the break, replacing McDonald with Gudjonsson.

The Clarets boss was rewarded 14 minutes later when the Icelander met Elliott's right-wing delivery with a fine header which flew into the back of the net.

They came close to doubling their advantage when Steve Thompson's header drew a smart save from De Vries.

Swansea sought to reply when midfielder Mark Gower warmed Jensen's hands from 18 yards but Steven Thompson also had an opportunity to score for Burnley, only to fire over the bar from 20 yards.

However, with time running out Angel Rangel crossed from the right and Bodde headed home from close range to earn Swansea a point.
