A Peter MacDonald double ended Queen of the South's fine run of recent form as a 2-1 win deservedly kept St Johnstone's unbeaten home record intact.

The home side dominated possession in a lacklustre first half at a very wet McDiarmid Park.

MacDonald's ninth-minute effort was well blocked by Queens' goalkeeper Jamie MacDonald. Rocco Quinn's free-kick was then turned around the post five minutes later.

The visitors' only two efforts of the opening half fell to Stephen Dobbie and Ryan McCann but neither could convert before Saints' Andy Jackson failed to capitalise on a Peter MacDonald cross as the home side ended the half on top.

Queen of the South opened the scoring after 57 minutes when a speculative Dobbie lob from a tight angle saw Alan Main stranded off his line.

Perth striker Andy Jackson was then stretchered off following a Craig Reid challenge in the 74th minute.

Two minutes later MacDonald turned in a corner from close range to draw the home side level.

MacDonald's second arrived in the 87th minute when he held off his marker on the edge of the box, turned and fired low into the net to grab all three points.
