Oscar Trejo came off the bench and struck a stoppage-time winner to boost Real Mallorca's UEFA Cup hopes with a 2-1 win over Osasuna, who have just two games to rescue themselves from relegation.

Trejo slotted home Borja Valero's cross in the 93rd minute to earn Mallorca their fourth straight win on Wednesday which lifts them to within three points of a European place.

Osasuna had looked like dragging themselves out of the Primera Liga drop zone after Javier Portillo cancelled out Daniel Guiza's first-half opener.

But Portillo went from hero to Villain when he was shown a straight red 10 minutes from time and his side were undone at the death for the second time in four days.

The visitors have now lost their last four games, but remain level on points with fourth-bottom Recreativo Heulva.

Osasuna showed their last-gasp defeat to Real Madrid had not drained their belief with a gutsy display after going behind.

The Pamplona-based outfit conceded twice in the final three minutes to 10-man Madrid last weekend as Bernd Schuster's side claimed the Primera Liga title, but threatened to upset in-form Mallorca.

Jose Carlos Nunes had the first sight of goal for the hosts when he was picked out in the area by Borja Valero's corner and sent his shot high over the crossbar.

And they did take the lead in the 32nd minute when Daniel Guiza - whose two goals helped beat Athletic Bilbao at the weekend - got on the end of Juan Arango's centre and slotted home from 12 yards.

But Mallorca had Miguel Moya to thank for keeping them ahead barely five minutes later though after the goalkeeper turned aside Josetxo Romero's point-blank header from Jaroslav Plasil's corner.

And the stopper was called into action again after the break when he was forced to block Portillo's effort from 12 yards.

Arango, though, had a goal ruled out for offside after 68 minutes and four minutes later Osasuna were level.

Portillo was picked out by Juanfran's low cross from the left and made no mistake with an assured finish low into the corner.

But the striker, who suffered relegation to the second division with Gimnastic Tarragona last season, handed the initiative back to Mallorca when he was dismissed for a foul on Fernando Navarro.

Former Newcastle flop Hugo Viana almost snatched a dramatic victory for the hosts in injury time when Moya kept out his close-range header.

Instead it was at the other end that the winner came as 76th-minute substitute Trejo tapped home to push the visitors a step closer to the trapdoor.
