BERLIN, April 5 (Bundesliga) - Werder Bremen bounced back from last weekend's shock home defeat to Duisburg to strengthen their hold on a UEFA Cup place.Markus Rosenberg put the visitors ahead against Hertha Berlin after just two minutes, but Luiz Andre Lima brought the hosts level shortly after.
Bayern Munich-bound Tim Borowski grabbed a 72nd-minute winner to lift Bremen up to fourth-place in the Bundesliga, level on points with Hamburg in third.
Hertha are still not definitely safe from relegation, lying eight points above the bottom three.
Defeat for Bremen would have seen them drop out of the European places all together, but the visiting supporters had barely time to take their seats when they went in front.
Good skill from Clemens Fritz down the right set up Rosenberg, who pulled off his marker Josip Simunic before nutmegging goalkeeper Jaroslav Drobny to open the scoring.
Their lead though lasted just eight minutes as Rudi Skacel floated a long free-kick into the area which defender Naldo failed to cut out.
Instead the ball fell to Lima who headed it past stranded goalkeeper Tim Wiese for the equaliser.
Berlin had chances to take the lead in the second half, notably when Lima's thunderbolt from fully 30 yards in the 70th minute cannoned back of the crossbar with Wiese beaten.
But they were undone two minutes later, Borowski running on to Torsten Frings' ball over the top and drawing Drobny before prodding the winner past the keeper.
