KARLSRUHE, March 1 (Bundesliga) - Josh Kennedy continued his recent good form in front of goal to help lift Karlsruhe into the European places following a victory against Wolfsburg.

The Australia international striker scored his fourth goal in five games to restore his side's advantage after Marcel Schafer had cancelled out Mario Eggimann's strike.

Alexander Iashvili added further gloss to the scoreline with a deserved goal in injury-time to ensure Karlsruhe moved up to fifth in the Bundesliga table.

After a tepid opening to the game the hosts took the lead in the 23rd minute when Wolfsburg goalkeeper Diego Benaglio could only palm a header from Kennedy as far as Eggiman who made no mistake from close range.

The visitors levelled six minutes later when Schafer found space to run into the area and unleash a well-placed shot that left Markus Miller with no chance of making a save.

After the break Karlsruhe stepped up their play with Iashvili at the centre of most of their forward forays.

The Georgia international saw a shot blocked by Alexander Madlung before crossing for Kennedy who mis-timed his jump at the ball and missed his header.

In the 73rd minute Iashvili presented Kennedy with another opportunity, sliding a pass to the tall striker who this time made no mistake in finding the net with a fierce strike.

And in injury-time Iashvili got the goal his play deserved when he dribbled past three Wolfsburg defenders before placing a 15-yard shot into the top corner.

The win extended Karlsruhe's unbeaten run at home to eight games while Wolfsburg dropped six points behind their hosts in the table.
