BERLIN, December 1 (Bundesliga) - Bayer Leverkusen moved to fourth place in the German Bundesliga table as they stormed to a 3-0 win at Hertha Berlin.

Carsten Ramelow opened the scoring for the visitors just after the half hour mark. And Tranquillo Barnetta doubled Bayer's advantage in the 50th minute before Sergej Barbarez sealed the victory right at the death.

Ninth-placed Hertha have been woeful on their travels, but have only dropped four points at home. However, Bayer are a bit of a bogey team for the Berlin club, having won on their past two visits to the Olympic Stadium.

The visitors started the stronger and could have been ahead as early as the fifth minute as Stefan Kiessling broke through the Hertha defence, but the in-form striker sent his 15-yard effort narrowly wide of the right upright.

Barbarez came closest to opening the scoring on 13 minutes as he picked up Simon Rolfes' pass and fired an effort goalbound from eight yards which Hertha keeper Jaroslav Drobny just managed to tip over the bar.

And Drobny again had to react smartly to keep out Rolfes' 20-yard screamer 10 minutes later.

But Drobny was powerless in the 31st minute.

Barnetta's free-kick found Ramelow who fired a crisp shot into the back of the net from 15 yards out.

Ramelow almost doubled his tally five minutes before the break but mis-hit his shot, blazing his 12-yard effort over the bar.

Bayer came out after the interval determined to increase their lead and did so just five minutes after the restart.

Barnetta latched onto Barbarez' pass and coolly slotted the ball past the keeper from eight yards.

The Switzerland midfielder had a great chance to put Bayer further ahead on the hour mark but Drobny managed to catch his 18-yard drive.

Hertha had their best chance of the game in the 78th minute, but Andre Lima headed Sofian Chahed's free-kick over the bar.

And there was still time for Barbarez to complete the scoring.

Breaking through the Hertha defence, he drilled in an unstoppable shot from 15 yards for his fourth goal in three games.
