CARACAS, March 28 (Reuters) - Copa America hosts Venezuela trounced hapless New Zealand 5-0 in a friendly international in Maracaibo on Wednesday, helped by a brace from striker Fernando de Ornelas.New Zealand, thumped 4-0 by Costa Rica on Saturday, were quickly in more trouble when Ricardo Paez, son of Venezuela coach Richard Paez, scored direct from a free kick in the seventh minute.
De Ornelas, who plays for Norway's Odd Grenland, opened his account after half an hour, running on to Juan Arango's pass to slot the ball past Mark Paston.
He also added the third after halftime, this time after being set up by Paez.
Nicolas Fedor scored the fourth from a penalty in the 84th minute and Ruberth Moran completed the rout in stoppage-time.
