Chris Millar scored twice but unfortunately for Morton one of the goals was past his own keeper as Forfar rode their luck to secure a point in a 1-1 draw.

Morton will have felt they deserved more than a point from a game where they had over 20 shots on goal and the visitors had just two.

The home side started brightly and the persistence of Paul McGowan almost paid off when he got in a shot that crashed off the crossbar.

However, it was Forfar who took the lead when full-back Gary Lynn whipped in an inswinging corner in the 15th minute which glanced off Millar's head and flew past debutant goalkeeper Paul Mathers.

The home side equalised in the 55th minute when Millar turned from villain to hero by volleying home a knock-down from forward Chris Templeman from eight yards.

Morton laid siege to the visitor's goal for the remainder of the half and Templeman was unlucky not to score with two close-range efforts.

Sean Murdoch in the visitor's goal was equal to everything Morton threw at his side. Jamie Stevenson's last minute drive beat him but Mark Allison popped-up on the line to clear the ball to safety.
