Moroccan striker Marouane Chamakh grabbed the only goal of the game after five minutes, slotting home from 10 yards to seal a win that follows the victory over Marseille last weekend.

Nancy have to contend with an unwanted 100% record of their own after losing their second match in succession after the opening day defeat to Monaco.

The hosts started the game much the better side, displaying some excellent, crisp passing that bore fruit after just five minutes.

Julien Faunert did brilliantly down the right flank before crossing for Chamakh who converted past the helpless Gennaro Bracigliano in the Nancy goal.

The visitors responded and could have come back into the game after 24 minutes but Adrian Sarkissian's free-kick was saved by Ulrich Rame.

Jean Claude Darcheville had a marvellous chance to double the lead for Bordeaux midway through the first half.

The former Nottingham Forest striker did the hard work to dribble round Bracigliano but with the goal at his mercy, dwelled too long and allowed Pape Malickou Diakhate time to race back and block.

Juan Pablo Francia almost grabbed a second for the hosts in the 49th minute but his shot from a Darcheville cross was crashed straight at Bracigliano.

Despite all the hosts' dominance, it was Nancy who came the closest to grabbing a goal in a largely bland second period.

Right at the death, the ball fell kindly to Abdoulaye Khouma Keita in the area but the midfielder's snap shot was superbly saved by Rame at point-blank range.
