PSG 2-2 St Etienne

Paris St Germain are still waiting for their first win of the season after a late equaliser gave St Etienne a share of the spoils in an action-packed clash at the Parc des Princes arena.

It was an important contest for the Parisien giants, who have been installed as favourites for the Ligue 1 title alongside three-time French champions Lyon, Marseille and Monaco.

However, after a dull first half where PSG were unable to find the back of the net, Valid Halilhodzic's men found themselves a goal down when St Etienne's Frederic Piquionne fired the visitors in front after 65 minutes.

The scores were then level four minutes later when St Etienne midfielder Didier Zokora brought Bartholomew Ogbeche down allowing Pauleta to convert from the penalty spot for the hosts.

The goal did enough to bring the team from the capital to life.

Brazilian hitman Reinaldo tried his luck a few minutes later but his powerful shot was saved by visiting keeper Jeremie Janot.

But Reinaldo then turned provider for Ogbeche to grab a second for his side in the 73rd minute.

France defender Bernard Mendy almost got a third after 83 minutes when he unleashed an impressive shot which was diverted away from goal by Janot.

But despite their heroic comeback PSG saw their dreams of victory shattered when an inspired Piquionne netted his second of the match two minutes before time to level at 2-2 and snatch a point for his side.

The draw has left PSG a disappointing 15th while St Etienne are two places below their opponents.
