Ligue 1 side Lille moved to the top of Group B with a dominant 3-0 win at home to Genoa in the Europa League.

Ludovic Obraniak's opener and second-half strikes from the dangerous Robert Vittek and substitute Eden Hazard ensured a relatively straightforward win for the hosts at the Metropole.

It was a scrappy start to proceedings, three fouls taking place before the first shot on goal.

That came when Florent Balmont tried his luck from 20 yards, just missing the target.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was next to have a go - powering an effort past the right-hand post in the 10th minute.

Sergio Floccari appeared the man most likely to hit back for the Italians, first volleying just wide with his left foot and then caught offside on the break.

After 20 minutes, Floccari brought a save from Ludovic Butelle with a firm header.

Marco Amelia was also called into action in the Genoa goal, Obraniak testing him from the edge of the area after 26 minutes and Vittek going even closer seven minutes later.

Yohan Cabaye then won and took a 36th-minute free-kick, but once again Amelia was up to it.

Obraniak opened the scoring for Lille moments later, sweeping home Vittek's header on from 18 yards.

Genoa put on Raffaele Palladino at half-time, in place of Andrea Esposito, but Lille continued to make the running.

Vittek again was at the heart of things, forcing Amelia into an improvised save with his feet.

The game briefly slowed thereafter, neither side finding the necessary space to cause problems in the final third.

The impressive Vittek was deservedly the man to reignite things, meeting Jerry Vandam's 63rd-minute centre with his left foot and finding the back of the net from inside the area.

Cabaye and Palladino traded modest efforts before Hazard, a 73rd-minute replacement for Obraniak, put the icing on the cake with a low shot from the edge of the penalty box.

The result puts Lille two points clear, but Genoa have some work to do with three points from as many games.
