Feyenoord Rotterdam 3-1 Vitesse Arnhem

John Guidetti hit his third hat-trick in five games to lift Feyenoord to a comfortable Eredivisie victory over Vitesse Arnhem at a snowy De Kuip.

Guidetti has become an instant hero at the Rotterdam club after arriving on a year-long loan from Manchester City, and took his tally for the season to 17 goals from 15 games with today's treble.

The 19-year-old Swede, who also hit three in last month's 4-2 triumph against Ajax and in the 3-2 win against FC Twente just before the winter break, struck after 12, 31 and 83 minutes to lift Ronald Koeman's side into fourth place in the standings.

Vitesse replied through a Nicky Hofs penalty shortly before the interval.

Guidetti's opening goal was far from the best he will score this season, the striker arriving on cue to bundle the ball over the line with his chest after Kelvin Leerdam had flicked on Jordy Clasie's corner.

Minutes later Vitesse might have levelled when Alexander Buttner went through one-on-one with Erwin Mulder but the home goalkeeper made a good save with his right foot.

The hosts survived that scare to double their lead just after the half-hour from the penalty spot after Guidetti was brought down in the area and picked himself up to score into the bottom-left corner.

Vitesse made sure Feyenoord could not rest easy at the half-time break when Hofs tucked the ball home from the penalty spot in the 41st minute after Leerdam had been penalised for handling in the area.

Mike Havenaar twice headed wide and Marco van Ginkel saw a volley well saved by Mulder as Vitesse pushed for an equaliser after the restart.

But it was the hosts who wrapped up the scoring seven minutes from full-time when Guidetti dribbled into the area before finishing powerfully with an angled drive to maintain his superb form in front of goal.
