Roma captain Francesco Totti scored twice as the Giallorossi claimed a draw at Fiorentina.
Both Totti strikes were equalisers, with the first coming after Adrian Mutu had put the home side ahead in the 21st minute.
Alessandro Gamberini then gave Fiorentina a 2-1 lead and Mutu almost extended the advantage before half-time but was denied by the post.
Totti struck again in the 52nd minute but Roma failed to find the winner as they lost ground this weekend on the top four teams.
Roma went into the game at the Artemio Franchi stadium on the back of last weekend's 2-0 triumph in the Eternal City derby.
Totti had also scored both of Roma's goals in that 2-0 win over Lazio.
Today, however, Fiorentina were much stronger in the early stages and could have gone in front in the second minute as Alberto Gilardino got his head to Valon Behrami's cross but his effort went over the bar.
Fiorentina scored soon after. Juan Vargas served Mutu inside the area and his left-footed strike beat Roma goalkeeper Alexander Doni.
Fiorentina's celebrations were cut short as the referee pointed to the spot after Gianluca Comotto brought down John Arne Riise inside the area.
Totti stepped up to take the penalty in the 27th minute and fired towards the bottom left corner to beat Fiorentina goalkeeper Artur Boruc.
The Viola surged forward more aggressively and regained their lead in the 34th minute.
Roma failed to clear the ball from a Fiorentina corner and Gamberini struck from the heart of the area past Doni.
Before the break, Mutu's header from Mario Santana's cross struck the bar.
Roma showed more determination after the re-start and were soon back on level terms. Riise's cross found Totti inside the area and he struck past Boruc.
Fiorentina could have made it 3-2 in the 68th minute. Vargas fed Gilardino and his six-yard effort went inches wide of the far post.
With one minute to go, Roma substitute Leandro Greco forced Boruc to make a good save.
Greco struck the ball from 30 yards and the goalkeeper kept it out.
