Derijck late winner

Ajax lost ground in the Eredivisie title race as Timothy Derijck's goal three minutes from time maintained ADO Den Haag's impressive home record this season and took them back into fifth place above FC Groningen.

ADO have now lost just twice in 14 league matches at the Kyocera Stadion and twice led before Derijck's winner settled it.

Frantisek Kubik (31) and Lex Immers (76) were the other ADO scorers but their goals were cancelled out by strikes from Jan Vertonghen (70) and Christian Eriksen (85).

Ajax carved out the first chance as Danish star Eriksen played in Dario Cvitanich but ADO goalkeeper Gino Coutinho was out quickly to snuff out the possibility of the Argentinian opening the scoring.

Coutinho did well to turn a low shot from Miralem Sulejmani around the post in the ninth minute and Eriksen drilled wide after a quickly-taken free-kick caught ADO by surprise.

Almost half an hour had been played when ADO first threatened as Immers' header from a Wesley Verhoek corner was cleared off the line by Ajax defender Vurnon Anita.

The hosts were ahead soon afterwards when a shot by ADO's top scorer Dmitri Bulykin struck the post and rebounded to Kubik, whose header beat Ajax goalkeeper Jeroen Verhoeven with the help of a deflection off Toby Alderweireld.

Vertonghen drew Ajax level with 20 minutes to go with a powerful left-foot shot but the Amsterdam giants were only on terms for six minutes when Immers applied a calm finish to a Verhoek free-kick into the box.

Ajax hit back again when Eriksen nodded home Sulejmani's cross from the right, but Derijck ensured all three points for ADO, firing a shot in off the post after a goalmouth scramble ensued from a Verhoek corner.
