Hamburg coach Bruno Labbadia is confident he has signed a proven goalscorer after Marcus Berg completed his move from Dutch side FC Groningen.
The 22-year-old Sweden international has agreed a five-year contract with the transfer fee undisclosed, although Groningen did confirm it was a club record.
Berg has been prolific for both club and country, scoring 32 goals in 56 games for Groningen and 14 in 19 for Sweden Under-21s.
Labbadia told Kicker: "I am very glad that we have signed Marcus Berg. He is a goalscorer who has the absolute will to shoot goals."
Berg added: "I would like to contribute with good form and goals and help make the team as successful as possible."
There was some bad news for Hamburg, however, after it was confirmed defender Bastian Reinhardt had broken his foot.
The 33-year-old has extended his contract for another season, though, and said: "Even if the injury for me is very bad, I am happy that HSV and I are still together.
"I am very grateful to HSV for this chance."
