Watford chairman Simpson resigns from club

Watford chairman Graham Simpson has resigned from the club with immediate effect.

Simpson will be replaced as the head of Watford Leisure on an interim basis by Andrew Wilson, currently a non-executive director at the company.

The news was revealed at this morning's Annual General Meeting and comes just a week after the club appointed former Chelsea youth-team coach Brendan Rodgers as a replacement for Adrian Boothroyd.

Boothroyd left the club this month after a string of poor results plummeted the Hornets towards the relegation zone in the Coca-Cola Championship.
