Estudiantes book place in Sudamericana final

A 1-0 victory saw Argentinian side Estudiantes book a place in the final of the Copa Sudamericana after edging out compatriots Argentinos 2-1 on aggregate.

Jose Luis Calderon scored the vital goal on the hour mark to set-up a clash with Brazilian outfit Internacional.

After salvaging a valuable 1-1 in the first-leg at Diego Maradona stadium, Leonardo Astrada`s side dominated the return in La Plata.

They went in front after 60 minutes when veteran striker Calderon headed home Leandro Benitez`s corner kick.

Argentinos substitute Facundo Quiroga was then dismissed after elbowing Uruguayan Juan Manuel Salgueiro before Estudiantes midfielder Rodrigo Brana also saw red in injury time.

"We continue making history," said Estudiantes midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron.

"Inter are the favourites in the final. We have to maintain our humility and give our best in the two games."

Estudiantes will host Inter next Wednesday before the second-leg is played on December 3.
