Juve ask league to cancel Andrade contract

Juventus have asked the Italian Football League for permission to cancel their contract with injured defender Jorge Andrade.

Andrade joined Juve from Deportivo La Coruna for 10 million euros in the summer of 2007 but missed most of last season after having to undergo two knee operations.

After nearing full fitness, he then suffered a relapse and has had to go under the knife once more, ruling him out of the remainder of the current campaign.

Juve suspect Andrade, who has made just three league appearances for the Bianconeri, will not play again and have asked the Lega Calcio to intervene.

The 30-year-old, who is under contract with the Serie A giants until 2010, will be examined by doctors from the Italian Football League before they make any decision.
