Levski Sofia coach resigns after BATE defeat

SOFIA, Aug 13 (Reuters) - Levski Sofia coach Velislav Vutsov resigned immediately after his side lost 1-0 to Belarus's BATE Borisov in their Champions League third qualifying round first leg match on Wednesday.

Levski's chief executive Daniel Borimirov told a post-match news conference that Vutsov would be replaced by his assistant Emil Velev.

It was Levski's ninth consecutive defeat in European club competitions. They qualified for the competition after finishing runners-up to champions CSKA Sofia who were excluded because of outstanding debts to the state and creditors.

Defender Vladimir Rzevskiy scored the only goal of the match with a second-half header. Levski captain Georgi Ivanov missed a penalty in the 30th minute.
