BUCHAREST, July 21 (Reuters) - Romania striker Claudiu Raducanu has signed a two-year contract with newly-promoted fisrt division side Vaslui, a club official said on Thursday.
Vaslui have been promoted to Romania's top flight for the first time after former international referee turned businessman Adrian Porumboiu took over the club last year. 'Raducanu has signed a deal with Vaslui for the next two seasons,' Porumboiu told Reuters. 'His arrival will strengthen our team's striking force.' Raducanu was first divison top scorer in 2003 with 21 goals for Steaua Bucharest before joining Espanyol in a $1.2 million deal. He scored three goals in 11 games for the Spanish side before being loaned to Bundesliga team Arminia Bielefeld. Earlier this month Raducanu rejected an offer to join relegated Romanian club Universitatea Craiova. The striker played in two matches for Romania, against Lithuania and Italy in 2003, when he was considered a good prospect for the future. 'To play for Vaslui does not mean a step backwards,' Raducanu told reporters. 'My aim is to come back to the national team again.'
