Butcher hits back at critics

Inverness manager Terry Butcher has dismissed the suggestion his new recruits are not prepared for the intensity of the home clash with derby rivals Ross County.

Butcher brought in six players during the close season - Nauris Bulvitis, Jonny Hayes, Lee Cox, Robert Eagle, Dani Sanchez and Daniel Stratford - all without any previous experience of Scottish football.

But he said: "The new players are not a bunch of aliens who have arrived here on space rockets.

"They are very much aware of what it means to play for Inverness Caley Thistle.

"A lot of our players have not played in this particular derby before, but then the ones who have such as Ross Tokely, Russell Duncan, Roy McBain and Grant Munro know what it is all about.''

Tokely serves the final game of his four-match suspension, Andrew Barrowman is out with a hamstring injury and Eric Odhiambo (broken foot) and Dougie Imrie (medial ligament) also remain sidelined.

Ross County duo Steven Craig and Stuart Golabek are both expected to miss out due to groin injuries.

Manager Derek Adams has cast his side as underdogs and placed the emphasis on Inverness' spending power and non-Scottish recruits.

He said: "There is a lot of pride at stake on Saturday. It is a massive game, but in the end there is only three points on offer.

"It is a massive game for Caley Thistle as well as they are title favourites and have been able to spend double what I have spent over the summer.

"It is very tight but three points on Saturday would mean we went above Inverness and it would be a welcome boost to the club."
