Mainz coach Thomas Tuchel has told his players to do everything in their power to protect their impressive home record.

They have won four and drawn the other of their five Bundesliga games at the Bruchweg Stadion this season with the likes of Bayern Munich and Hoffenheim all falling by the wayside.

That unbeaten record is something of which Tuchel is particularly proud, and he wants to see it continue tomorrow when Nurnberg are the visitors.

"We want to make this into a real home game, play to our strengths and keep hold of the three points,'' he said.

"We want to do everything to make sure our home record does not end.''

A win could take Mainz into the top five, but they come up against a side with a point to prove after throwing away what would have been a crucial victory last weekend.

While Mainz were fighting hard to get a point at Wolfsburg, Nurnberg seemed to be cruising to victory over Werder Bremen until they conceded two late goals to leave them with only a draw and stuck inside the bottom three of the table.

That outcome left them seething, with coach Michael Oenning telling Nurnberger Nachrichten newspaper: "We still have the feeling that we were robbed of two points and that we were unfairly treated.''

Oenning is likely to be without Marek Mintal, who has a virus, so Thomas Broich is set to start in place of the 2005 Bundesliga top goalscorer in the only change made to the side which came close to ending Bremen's three-month unbeaten streak last weekend.
