New signing Lewis Haldane will be in Micky Adams' squad for Port Vale's home clash against Grimsby.
Haldane completed a one-month loan switch from Bristol Rovers on Tuesday having trained with the Valiants for the past week and he will be looking to secure a starting berth on either flank or in a more attacking role.
Full-back Kris Taylor is likely to return following a thigh strain although midfielder Claus Jorgensen, who was on non-contract terms, has now left the club having rejected a deal put on the table.
Striker James Lawrie will also miss out as he recovers from an operation to remove his appendix while Joe Anyon has stepped up his rehabilitation from the fractured tibia he sustained back in March.
The goalkeeper, 22, is now doing plenty of handling work but is yet to make a return to full first-team training, making it difficult to predict a date for his return.
Elsewhere, midfielder Ross Davidson is to extend his loan spell at Stafford Rangers while team-mate Steve Thompson looks set to join him in a stint at the non-league club.
New loan signing Josh Lillis is expected to make his full debut for Grimsby.
Goalkeeper Lillis, the son of former Scunthorpe striker Mark, joined Town on a month-long loan from the Iron on transfer deadline day.
With first-choice keeper Nick Colgan still out with a groin injury, the 22-year-old will go straight into the side after fellow loanee Tommy Forecast asked to return Southampton in light of his arrival at the club.
Barry Conlon and Adam Proudlock added to the Mariners striking woes with red cards in the home defeat to Aldershot last weekend and must now serve three-match suspensions.
Manager Mike Newell is already without forwards Nathan Jarman (foot), Adrian Forbes (knee), Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro (thigh), Peter Bore (hamstring) and Nick Hegarty (ankle).
Teenager Chris Jones and Danny North will be the only recognised strikers available to Newell at Vale Park.
