Ashley Vincent could be added to the Colchester squad for the home game against Huddersfield.
The winger has been sidelined for the last three matches with an ankle injury but is close to returning to fitness.
Vincent is likely to have to settle for a place on the bench, however, after the Us roared to a 3-0 win over Charlton on Tuesday night.
Defender Pat Baldwin is also edging closer to a return following a leg injury but Saturday's game looks set to come just too soon so Wolves loanee Danny Baath should keep his place at the back.
Full-back Lee Beevers faces a lengthy lay-off after shoulder surgery and centre-half Paul Reid (knee) is another long-term absentees.
Huddersfield manager Lee Clark could be tempted to make changes as his side chase their first league win in five matches.
The Terriers still lie in sixth place, but have drawn two and lost two of their last four matches and although Clark has no new injury or suspension worries, the Terriers boss may want to shake-up his starting line-up.
Tom Clarke remains the only absentee from the first-team squad as he is working his way back from knee ligament damage.
Wingers Gary Roberts and Lionel Ainsworth, strikers Robbie Simpson and Lee Novak and midfielder Michael Collins have all found themselves on the fringes in recent weeks, but could come into consideration as Clark looks to rediscover the winning formula.
