Roman Bednar's back injury is not as bad as first feared although the West Brom striker will miss the visit of Swansea.

Bednar had to be stretchered off with a trapped nerve just five minutes into Saturday's 3-1 victory over Reading and was immediately taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.

Although he will miss out against the Swans, he could be back in time for the trip to neighbours Coventry at the weekend.

Midfielder James Morrison, who last played for the club back in April, has had to undergo another minor operation on his troublesome heel problem in a bid to speed up the healing process. His progress will be monitored over the next two to three weeks.

Scott Carson, Luke Moore and Graham Dorrans all returned from injury to face the Royals on Saturday and they will again be in contention this time around as will two-goal winger Jerome Thomas who made his comeback after a three-match ban.

Midfielder Chris Brunt (calf) is a major doubt once again as striker Ishmael Miller and defender Neil Clement (both knee) continue to miss out.

Swansea may be without three key first-team players.

Skipper Garry Monk, striker Gorka Pintado and winger Andrea Orlandi are all doubtful to feature at The Hawthorns.

Former Southampton defender Monk is struggling with a calf injury, which also ruled him out of the trip to Ipswich.

Pintado is likely to miss out with a thigh injury, as is fellow Spaniard Orlandi, who returned on Saturday but has since suffered a recurrence of his thigh injury.

Manager Paulo Sousa does have some positive news, though.

The side go into the match without any suspension worries and could welcome back Wales international Joe Allen, who had been out with a hamstring injury.
