Preston boss Alan Irvine expects defender Liam Chilvers to be passed fit for the home clash with West Brom.

Chilvers was replaced during the second half of Tuesday's 2-1 home defeat against Reading after picking up a dead leg, although Irvine said: "I would expect he will be okay for Saturday.''

The North End boss could ring the changes after a dismal first-half display against the Royals but he will again be missing a trio of players through injury.

Left-back Callum Davidson is ruled out for several weeks with a torn hamstring and midfielder Barry Nicholson remains a long-term absentee with a broken leg.

Winger Paul Parry also tore a hamstring in the recent 2-0 home win over Swansea and will remain sidelined too.

West Brom striker Luke Moore's knee injury again forces him out but Youssouf Mulumbu and Marek Cech should feature.

Striker Moore has missed the club's last two games - successive defeats which have ended Albion's unbeaten start to the Championship season - but should be back in the frame come the end of the forthcoming international break.

Midfielder Mulumbu had to be substituted at half-time in Tuesday night's 3-1 defeat at Barnsley having sustained a knock to his ankle but he has been given the all-clear for the trip to Deepdale.

Left-sided utility man Cech is also likely to make his comeback having returned to full training after missing the last four games with a badly twisted ankle.

Chris Brunt is okay having successfully come through his return from a knee injury at Oakwell but winger Jerome Thomas serves the final instalment of his three-match suspension.

Long-term absentees James Morrison (heel), Neil Clement and Ishmael Miller (both knee) continue to miss out.
