Burnley manager Owen Coyle believes it is a "blessing'' in disguise that his side do not play until Monday's visit of Sheffield United.

The Clarets boss insists the extra few days off will provide a huge boost to his squad ahead of the crucial promotion clash at Turf moor.

He told the club's official website: "Maybe it's a blessing the game is not until Monday as it gives one or two players a chance to get over their knocks.''

But Coyle will again be without striker Steven Thompson, who has still been unable to join in training following the ankle ligament damage he sustained against Nottingham Forest in March.

And Coyle will continue to monitor fellow forward Martin Paterson after a scan revealed inflammation on his troubled hamstrings, so Jay Rodriquez is likely to continue up front.

Sheffield United defender Matt Kilgallon is expected to miss Monday night's clash.

Kilgallon damaged knee ligaments in the recent win at Reading and missed Easter Monday's goalless draw with Nottingham Forest.

But scan results this week have confirmed the former Leeds academy product's injury is not as serious as first feared and he could return for the Blades' last two matches.

Leigh Bromby will continue to deputise for Kilgallon alongside skipper Chris Morgan at the heart of defence.

Midfielder Brian Howard begins a two-match ban after picking up his 10th yellow card of the season before his match-winning strike in the 1-0 win over Reading on Good Friday.

John Joe O'Toole, on loan from Watford, Lee Hendrie, Craig Beattie and Arturo Lupoli, all named on the substitutes' bench against Forest, are pushing to be included in Kevin Blackwell's starting line-up.

The Blades have no other new injury or suspension problems.
