Chester assistant manager Wayne Allison could be named among the substitutes after signing a playing deal at the Deva Stadium during the week. The Blues are badly short of striking options ahead of their home clash with Port Vale on Sunday.
Paul McManus is currently their only recognised hitman with the in-form Damien Mozika offering support.
But Allison, who celebrated his 40th birthday on Thursday, may not make an appearance as manager Simon Davies gives the veteran time to rediscover his match fitness.
City are also likely to be missing on-loan Vauxhall forward Paul Taylor as he was given his third and final disciplinary warning by the club this week after they claimed he missed training sessions.
The Blues have no other injuries or suspensions.
Port Vale manager Dean Glover could be without Shane Tudor.
The former Leyton Orient winger aggravated his troublesome knee injury in last weekend's shock 2-1 victory over Shrewsbury and is rated doubtful for the midday clash at the Deva Stadium.
Simon Richman could be restored to the starting line-up after he replaced Tudor against the Shrews, although Glover may turn to striker Luke Rodgers if he opts to return to a 4-4-2 formation.
On-loan teenager Lee Collins misses out through suspension after he was sent off in the closing stages of the Shrews win, while fellow defender Chris Slater looks set to link up with former club Chasetown on a month's loan.
Glover had hoped to bolster his defensive options with a loan move for Stockport's Gareth Owen, but the former Stoke centre-half snubbed the Valiants.
Striker Steve Thompson (hamstring) remains Vale's only long-term absentee.
