Shrewsbury manager Paul Simpson will be without star striker Grant Holt when he welcomes struggling local rivals Port Vale to the Prostar Stadium.
Holt smashed five goals in the 7-0 thrashing of League Two leaders Wycombe in the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy, but the former Nottingham Forest marksman picked up his fifth booking of the season in last weekend's 1-1 draw at Darlington, meaning he serves a one-match suspension.
Richard Walker is expected to step in with fellow forward Michael Symes lacking match practice.
Defender Michael Jackson will be okay despite having stitches in a head wound, while Shane Cansdell-Sherriff should also feature after coming off injured against Wanderers.
Defender Marc Tierney looks doubtful with a virus while on-loan goalkeeper Luke Daniels is also rated as 50/50 due to sickness.
Midfielders Paul Murray (Achilles) and David Hunt (knee) have both started light training with a view to making a return within the next couple of weeks to a month.
New Port Vale boss Dean Glover will be desperate to show he is the right man for the job when he comes up against Shrewsbury.
Glover will have to turn around a run of six successive defeats if he is to take anything from a rampant Shrews side.
Left-back Damien McCrory is likely to feature having signed from Plymouth on a one-month loan deal while midfielder Paul Edwards may also get his first start of the season after sitting on the sidelines with an ankle injury.
Goalkeeper Chris Martin could find himself on the bench after recovering from a back complaint, while striker Steve Thompson is short of match fitness having only recently returned to training following a hamstring problem.
Midfielder David Howland and strikers Kyle Perry, Danny Glover and Danny Edwards will all hope to start having been on the bench against Notts County in last weekend's 2-1 defeat at Vale Park.
Luke Chapman is still out injured after undergoing knee cartilage surgery.
