The African Nations Cup reaches a defining point for Ghana when the hosts face Morocco in Accra.

Despite gaining maximum points on their way to topping group A, Claude Le Roy's team have been far from impressive thus far and will need to put in a good performance if they are to gain the confidence of the supporters.

However, they will be under immense pressure against the North Africans, who must win if they are to have any chance of progressing.

Ghana opened the competition with a 2-1 last-gasp win over Guinea, but it was a disappointing display in the 1-0 victory over unfancied Namibia which upset the fans the most.

Striker Asamoah Gyan in particular has been singled out for criticism after he missed several chances against the Namibians.

His family have allegedly been receiving nasty phone calls, prompting the Udinese striker and his brother Baffour to threaten a walk-out on the team.

The situation has since been resolved, but Gyan is feeling the heat.

He said: "I'm very sad because Ghanaians know what I can do on the field. The downfall of a man is not the end of his life.

"I have played 22 games for my country and scored 15 goals. If things are not going well I expect encouragement from the fans, not criticism.''

Coach Le Roy added: "We may not have played fantastically well but we've still got two wins. Now we have got Morocco, we only need a draw but we'll play to win. We'll be ready for them on Monday at five o'clock.''

Ghana have six points but defeat, coupled with a win for Guinea over Namibia, will put the hosts out.

The only player missing will be Laryea Kingston through suspension.

Henri Michel's Morocco are also in need of three points after they lost 3-2 to Guinea in the last game.

The Frenchman knows exactly what is needed against the Black Stars.

He said: "We started badly against Guinea and we will have to battle it out with Ghana for a place in the next stage. We will go all out against them on Monday.''

Captain Youssef Safri has all but given up hope and believes that his side cannot compete against the bigger teams.

He said: "I think we have no chance to win this cup, actually we would be lucky to qualify to the next round. We have a few good players among our squad but not good enough to contest against the like of Nigeria, the Ivory Coast or Egypt.''

The Moroccans are again set to miss the services of Soufiane Alloudi (knee), who scored a hat-trick against Namibia.
