BERLIN, October 26 (Bundesliga) - Hertha Berlin go into their clash at home against Bochum in dire need of a spark after plummeting down the Bundesliga table. After a good start, the capital club have fallen to the 10th with 16th-placed Bochum just four points away.
"We are all aware of the situation at the time being,'' Hertha skipper Arne Friedrich said.
"There are just a few points between us and the lower ranks. That means we have to run, work hard and make no mistakes.''
Things will not get any easier next weekend when Berlin travel to high-flying Hamburg.
"We have a difficult road game coming up,'' Friedrich added. "All that matters is a win this weekend. A draw will not be enough.''
If Solomon Okoronkwo is unable to play because of a groin injury, Andre Lima is likely to partner Marko Pantelic up front.
Josip Simunic is also sweating on his starting place in midfield, with Pal Dardai and Mineiro seeming likely options.
Bochum coach Marcel Koller hopes to take advantage of the growing pressure in Berlin.
"Berlin, as the capital club and `Bayern Munich hunters' early in the season, have much higher ambitions than we do,'' he said.
"But they are just four points ahead of us in the table. It's our goal to cut this distance but we know that it won't be done by talking but by performing on the pitch.''
Martin Meichelbeck is missing with back problems and Tomas Zdebel is nursing a thigh injury, while Christoph Dabrowski (broken rib) and Marcel Maltritz (hip) are both facing fitness races.
The last three meetings between the sides in the Olympic Stadium ended in a draws, with Bochum's last win dating back 16 years.
