MONCHENGLADBACH, March 9 (Bundesliga) - Bottom-placed Borussia Monchengladbach are in desperate need of a victory this weekend when they host stuttering Hertha Berlin.Both sides have endured a turbulent few weeks, with Gladbach slipping all the way to the foot of the table and Hertha dropping two points behind the UEFA Cup places.
After last weekend`s 1-0 defeat at Wolfsburg, nothing less than a win will do for Borussia as they seek to reduce the five-point gap to 15th-placed Arminia Bielefeld.
"It took a while to get over the loss at Wolfsburg,'' coach Jos Luhukay admitted. "We really need a win now to regain some confidence. It4s vital for the team.
"We4ll try all we can to play good football, and I have a feeling that we will be rewarded this time out.''
With the exception of Oliver Neuville (groin), Wesley Sonck (ankle) and Filip Daems (heel), Luhukay has a fully-fit squad to face a side he believes he has the measure of.
"I know their strengths and weaknesses,'' he said. "But it4s more important for us to work hard and show the right passion.''
Saturday4s match will be the first since the resignation of sports director Peter Pander, who made way for former Germany international Christian Ziege.
"I expect a professional attitude from my players,'' said Luhukay. "Maybe they want to win the match for Pander.''
Just like Gladbach, Hertha are also looking to break out of a slump, in their case a five-game winless run.
"We have to play as a team again and continue where we left it in the successful first half of the season,'' general manager Dieter Hoeness vowed.
Coach Falko Gotz will be able to field Kevin-Prince Boateng and Yildiray Basturk, who have both returned to training after longer stints on the sidelines.
They return at the right time, as Marko Pantelic, Malik Fathi and Josip Simunic are all suspended and Sofian Chahed (calf) is missing through injury. Germany international Arne Friedrich (knee) also faces a race for fitness.
Gotz is expected to give Boateng some playing time after his knee surgery.
"He still needs some time to find his way back but he is a candidate for the Gladbach match,'' said the coach.
