TROYES, April 14 (Ligue 1) - Troyes could take a giant stride towards safety on Saturday when they meet Ajaccio in their second relegation dogfight in eight days.
Last weekend's 4-2 victory over Metz saw Troyes put a five-point cushion between themselves and the bottom three with four matches to play.
Victory against Ajaccio would virtually eliminate any realistic chance of the Corsican club catching them and, depending on results in matches involving Strasbourg and Metz, could bring safety within touching distance.
However, Ajaccio's 1-0 win over Toulouse last week saw them climb off the bottom and victory for the Corsicans would further rekindle hope that they could stay in Ligue 1.
Troyes coach Jean-Marc Furlan will try and field a similar team to the one that beat Metz last weekend.
Ajaccio coach Jose Pasqualetti will not be able to count on defender Nenad Dzodic (shoulder) for the rest of the season while Jean-Jacques Mandrichi (knee) will not be fit for the trip to the Champagne region.
Ajaccio midfielder Romain Rocchi admitted to club website www.ac-ajaccio.com that winning was the only option for the Corsicans.
Rocchi said: "We no longer have the choice - we have to pull it off if we want to keep hoping.
"If we fail there will be no hope left.
"If by good fortune we win there will all the pressure on Troyes when they host Toulouse.''
Troyes will plant 40,000 pieces of chocolate money around the Stade de l'Aube for their younger supporters to find on Saturday as an Easter treat.
The players will be hoping for a more lasting reward for their efforts.
