Power Rankings: Crew snare Supporters' Shield

Updated: October 26, 2009

Note: Every week during the regular season, ESPN Soccernet.com takes the pulse of the league by ranking all 15 teams. The ESPN MLS Power Rankings consist of a consolidation of votes from Jeff Carlisle, Jen Chang, Steve Davis, Frank Dell'Apa, Kristian Dyer, Ives Galarcep, Allen Hopkins and Andrew Hush.

2009 Power Rankings: Week 32
Rank (Last Wk) Team Record (W-L-T) Comment
1 (1) Columbus 13-7-10 Remember when the Crew got shellacked 4-1 by RSL back in April? You can bet Robert Warzycha does.
2 (2) Los Angeles 12-6-12 The Galaxy complete a worst-to-first campaign.
3 (3) Houston 13-8-9 Credit the Dynamo for winning at Chivas USA in the season finale, but something has been missing lately from Dominic Kinnear's team.
4 (6) Seattle Sounders FC 12-7-11 After going 2-0-1 against Houston in all competitions, the Sounders have to like their chances in the first round of the playoffs.
5 (5) Chicago 11-7-12 For a No. 2 seed, the Fire are scaring absolutely no one, not even a banged-up New England side.
6 (4) Chivas USA 13-11-6 The Goats did enough grinding to get into the playoffs, but this is where Chivas USA historically grinds to a halt.
7 (8) New England 11-10-9 Given the masterful coaching job he pulled off, a playoff spot is just reward for Steve Nicol.
8 (12) Real Salt Lake 11-12-7 After winning at playoff roulette this past weekend, Jason Kreis should head to Vegas for a few days.
9 (7) FC Dallas 11-13-6 The brave late playoff dash fell one result short as that defense still needs some attention around Pizza Hut Park.
10 (11) Colorado 10-10-10 It's a shame the spectacular pairing of Conor Casey and Omar Cummings will be absent from the playoffs.
11 (10) DC United 9-8-13 A second successive season without a playoff berth is likely to spell the end of coach Tom Soehn's reign.
12 (9) Toronto FC 10-11-9 An embarrassing 5-0 capitulation against the worst team in the league in a must-win game says it all.
13 (14) Kansas City 8-13-9 Will Peter Vermes relinquish the coaching job? Does it matter?
14 (15) New York Red Bulls 5-19-6 Interim coach Richie Williams probably won't get a chance at the full-time post, which is a darn shame. He took a wandering lot and made them respectable.
15 (13) San Jose 7-14-9 The Quakes become the first expansion side in 10 years to do worse in its second season than it did in its first.
