Sean Davis Bio Send To Friend

Davis was snapped up by Bolton Wanderers in July 2009, becoming the latest player to be offloaded by Portsmouth during the summer transfer window.

He moved on a free transfer, just six months after the south coast club rejected a £3.5m bid for the player from Bolton.

The player began his career with Fulham, making his debut in October 1996 as a substitute in a 3-0 home win over Cambridge United.

He was one of the stars as Fulham cruised to the First Division title in the 2000-01 campaign. His displays earned him England Under-21 honours and he also captained the side. And he made the full England squad for the friendly against Australia in February 2003 but failed to make it onto the pitch.

As Fulham moved into the Premiership, Davis became the first ever player to have played in all four divisions with the same club.

But things turned sour towards the end of the 2002-03 season. With Jean Tigana sacked, Davis told Fulham he wanted to leave.

Everton moved in for him, with Middlesbrough also interested, and he seemed set for Goodison Park. But he was recovering from a knee injury and failed the medical just before transfer deadline day.

Davis was now marooned at Fulham, but new boss Chris Coleman welcomed him back into the fold and he returned to action in November 2003.

In July 2004, Tottenham moved him to sign him for an undisclosed fee. Davis made his Spurs debut in a 1-1 home draw with Liverpool but his time at White Hart Lane was a huge disappointment. The player made just 17 appearances for Spurs before heading to Fratton Park.

The tenacious midfielder left bound for Portsmouth in January 2006 in a deal worth a reported £7m, which also included Pedro Mendes and Noe Pamarot.

His debut for Portsmouth came in a 1-0 home defeat to Everton and he turned out to be a vital player as the club avoided relegation against all the odds.

Davis, a tough tackle and quality passer of the football, appeared to have put his career back on track with Harry Redknapp's side.

However, as Redknapp improved the strength and depth of his squad Davis' first team chances were restricted and in the 2007-08 season he made just 18 appearances in the league; as a result he was linked with both Aston Villa and Middlesbrough.

He stayed at Pompey for 2008-09 and was a regular in the squad but he opted to move to Bolton Wanderers in the summer. Bolton had unsuccessfullly made a bid for the player six months earlier.
