Send To Friend
Sunderland manager Steve Bruce was delighted to sign this Albanian international for a fee which could be worth up to £5m in July 2009.
The defensive midfielder moved to the Stadium of Light from Marseille, where he was the club captain.
Cana began his career with Lausanne Sports in Switzerland, where his family had moved to escape the war in Yugoslavia.
His next port of call was Paris Saint-Germain. He spent five years with PSG before switching to Marseille in 2005 and making well over 100 appearances.
A former Arsenal trialist, Cana chose to represent Albania ahead of Switzerland and France.
