Wolves signed Zubar from Marseille in July 2009 for a deal reported to be in the region of £2.75m.
The central defender began his career with Caen before moving to Marseille in 2006. He was part of the Caen team which reached the final of the French League Cup in 2005.
He was linked with Arsenal before moving to Marseille, where he again lost out in a Cup final, the French Cup, and it was Zubar who missed the spot-kick in the shootout against Sochaux.
Originally a defensive midfielder, Marseille pulled him back into the centre of defence.
"Ronald is a quick, powerful defender who has played for the French Under-21 team," said Wolves boss Mick McCarthy. "He has got Champions League experience and he will prove a very valuable addition to the squad."
